Getting an account
You open an account by applying at the ‘sign up’ page and simply follow the instructions. After your application has been approved, you will receive an email with your username and password. Once you sign you in, go to your ‘my account’ area to see your rate list, download invoices and make pre-payments.
Each customer can make a couple of test calls before making a pre-payment.
Payments
VoiceTel is only a prepaid service. You can set up your payment plan through your ‘my account’ area and choose either credit card or bank transfer.
Available accounts
There are two account currencies: CAD and USD. Your rate lists, payments and billing will be in whatever currency you have chosen.
Available routes
VoiceTel offers 2 routes (CAD & USD), each with different rates and quality levels:
VoiceTrading Standard: | low rate, high quality |
VoiceTrading Premium: | slightly higher rate, best possible quality |
Every route has it’s own dialling format.
Getting connected
The username & password can also be used to connect to our SIP-server in order to make calls.

We support the following codecs:
- G.711 (64 kbps)
- G.726 (32 kbps)
- G.729 (8 kbps)
- G.723 (5.3 & 6.3 kbps)
- GSMFR (13 kbps)
- iLBC (20ms & 30ms)
- If you cannot connect by using Username & Password, we can also authenticate your fixed IP address(es).
After we authenticated your IP, you can connect by using the following specific/dedicated IP-address/es.
